The best part is ... it is not required :P

Created a Facebook profile. I really don't get it but if that's what you've gotta do to be cool ... I want to be cool :D

The web that wasn't is an interesting watch (I don't like how Google Video is now just YouTube, makes me grumpy). Alex Wright surely did research is subject. Made me want to watch the documentary on Paul Otlet's life, the man who wanted to classify the world!

During the whole Google tech talk I was hoping he would mention the hypertext DOS program I dabbled with back in 1987-1988 on my Sanyo PC AT with a 5 Mo hard drive (sound's ridiculous doesn't it). I can't remember what it was called :(

Vinton Cerf's intervention at the end on the ephemeral nature of the web is very true. I wonder if, at least on the Net, longevity is the only way one can appreciate the quality of the work done? Should we really try to salvage everything digital from decrepitude?

I also watched the XWiki talk. It is funny that the company was founded in 2004, at the time I was introducing the use of Wikis at my former employer. We did it all, not the bell & whistles stuff, but the thing that really matter to a non technological business sharing information in context.

My clean install of Gutsy went flawlessly and getting everything back the way I like it was nearly as simple as copying my home folder across. I still haven't figured out why I can't get a network connection back up and running after a router restart ... very strange. Thanks Bill for Windows!
