4h to install GG on Antoine's computer!!!

At 82% I stopped the installer who had been stuck for a good 15 minutes. Instead of timing out elegantly trying to synchronize with the source mirrors it just waits forever it seems. The key is to simply unplug the network cable to get it to continue but I discovered that too late.

The laptop wouldn't boot anymore. The Windows partition boot flag was set to no when the Ubuntu installer failed after it resized the NTFS partition and the Linux partition was unusable.

Was I glad that the Live CD worked. I learnt a few tricks about fdisk and parted which saved me the embarrassment of having to tell Antoine to reinstall everything.

Moral of the story, GNU/Linux may be cool but it can still be a struggle to install even by the all mighty *buntu.

Now the question is, can I install Vista (gift from MS) on my desktop over my XP partition without destroying my LGNU/Linux partition?
