Most of this site is powered by PmWiki [pmwiki-2.1.27], an open source PHP wiki engine that rules:
- text based (no database required)
- amazingly easy to install, use and administer
- highly customizable (which is what this document is about)
WikiFarm
This is just a field of a WikiFarm
PmWiki allows the wiki administrator to share one installation of the program across several distinct wikis (fields). Customization can then be done at the farm level or at the field level ...
It is extremely convenient and powerful!
mimeTeX
Formula, equation & LaTeX ... make one seem smarter than one really is. The mimeTeX recipe makes it very easy to look very smart :D.
GeSHi
GeSHi is a first class syntax highlighting library (in PHP).
I love hacking a few lines of code here and there, sometimes more. In order to be able to share that here, using a spunky beautifier is necessary (makes the code more appealing).
PHP is mentioned twice in this document when really I love Python henceforth ...
Skins
This is just a {BK} like front-end. I harmed no table in designing the skin for this website but ... CSS can be a pain in the butt sometimes. I put a first version together in Firefox to discover when I was happy with the result that I had used things IE doens't understand or understands differently.
For some time I thought I would have to use tables in order to have an edit form that looked the way I wanted it to look but the combination of the <!--function: --> template markup and html inline style definition did the job very well. (I will more than likely explain later how I did it in a tutorial.
Logbook
I have also designed a very simple weblog like calendar browser for side bars, see Tutorial.Logbook for more info. I guess it is another blog like feature ;).
HaloScan
I implemented an integration of the HaloScan web service into PmWiki, see Tutorial.HaloScan for more info. Now it looks even more like a blog :P
